MUSEO DEL CAMPO
COUNTRY LIFE MUSEUM
The Country Life Museum narrates the history of livestock farming, which drove the economic development of the region at the end of the 19th century.
Its exhibition covers a timeline that spans from 1892 to 1991, the year in which the Hudson volcano erupted.
The museum seeks to preserve and honor the legacy of the main activity that gave life to the towns of Santa Cruz and its rural workers.
MUSEO DE LOS PIONEROS
PIONEERS' MUSEUM
The Pioneers' Museum was founded in 1972. Located in a historic house from the 1930s, it pays tribute to the founders of the city.
Through objects, photographs, and documents, it narrates the history of the first inhabitants, both indigenous and European, highlighting their achievements and challenges in building Patagonia.
A special room commemorates the 1921 strike, a key event in local history.
ANTIGUO HOTEL COLON.
FORMER HOTEL COLON
The Hotel Colón was inaugurated in 1936. Built with the finest materials of the time, it was a place that housed many travelers who came to the city and also served as a hub for social activities of the era through its confectionery-restaurant.
The building, which reflects the Magellanic architectural style, was declared a Cultural Heritage of Santa Cruz in 2007.
Today it is a student residence of the UNPA (National University of Patagonia Austral).
LA PARROQUIA
THE PARISH
The Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, located at 235 San Martín Avenue, is a space of profound spirituality and encounter for the local community.
This beautiful temple stands out for its architecture and the great warmth of its parishioners.

LA EX-COMISARIA.
THE FORMER POLICE STATION
The old Police Station of Puerto San Julián, built in the early years of the city, is a key testament to its history.
Significant events took place here, such as the arrest of José Font in 1916 and the detention of workers during the strikes of 1920-1921. It also holds the memory of the pupils of La Catalana, detained in 1922.
This building was declared a National Historical Heritage in 2020.
LA CATALANA.
BROTHEL.
During the 1921 strike, at the "La Catalana" brothel in San Julián, a group of brave women refused to serve the soldiers who had massacred the striking workers.
This act of defiance, known as "The Whores of San Julián", demonstrated solidarity and courage in the face of brutal repression, becoming a symbol of resistance in the fight for social justice.
EL TALIA.
The Cine Teatro Talía (Talia Cinema Theater), inaugurated in 1925 by Fernando Sánchez, was a cultural beacon in Puerto San Julián. It was a social space where people enjoyed movies, zarzuelas (Spanish operettas), and theater.
Its typical construction housed generations of memories, uniting Spaniards and Englishmen in a common space for entertainment.
Today, the Cine Teatro Talía offers cinema through INCAA Spaces (a national film program) and commercial circuits from Wednesday to Sunday, and also functions as a theater and conference hall.
ARGENSUD.
This emblematic building was an iconic general store, with sections ranging from hardware and fashion to perfumery and footwear. It even allowed the purchase of automobiles and operated as an exporter and importer.
After years of neglect, Argensud is reborn as a vibrant cultural space. Art and entertainment converge within its walls, housing a restaurant-bar, a nightclub, an event hall, and exhibition spaces, transforming the historic site into a multifaceted meeting point.
LA CARRETA.
THE CART
Don Nicanor's cart, a symbol of work and joy in Puerto San Julián, belonged to the Spaniard Nicanor Hernández, who arrived in the city in 1918.
With it, he delivered water for 20 years, bringing joy to everyone with his decorated animals and bells. A shepherd, payador (folk singer), and beloved by the community, his cart represents the pioneering spirit and cultural legacy he left behind after his passing.
SWIFT PLAZA.
This plaza in San Julián honors the memory of the workers of the Swift Meatpacking Plant, a crucial economic pillar in the past.
Its construction seeks to recognize the effort of those who contributed to the development of the community and to remember the importance of their work.
PLAZA ESPAÑA.
(SPAIN SQUARE)
Plaza España, the heart of Puerto San Julián, is a space for gathering and recreation.
Its iconic carousel attracts all eyes, while the children's playground invites fun.
Throughout the years, this square has witnessed memorable events, celebrations, and community gatherings, establishing itself as a central point of social and cultural life in the city.
PLAZOLETA FESTIVAL.
Plaza of the Patagonian Youth Folklore Festival, declared of interest in Mercosur, and of municipal interest in 1991 and of provincial and national interest in 1996.
This monument symbolizes the city's commitment to the dissemination of Argentine folklore, highlighting the importance of integration and unity of youth through art.
PATAGONIAN FISHERMAN
Tribute to the Patagonian fisherman, as a testament to the daily and silent work of the hardworking man of the sea.
CENTENNIAL SCULPTURE
Omar Estela's sculpture defies conventions. His style combines the solidity of materials with a profound narrative. His works, full of symbolism, immerse us in a universe where time and social transformations take center stage.
